Alejandra Cañas Arboleda graduated as Internist in 2002 at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Finished his specialization in Pneumology in 2004 at the same university. From 2006 to 2007 he completed a fellowship in Pulmonary Transplantation and Interventional Pulmonology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Alejandra Cañas Arboleda

Alejandra Cañas Arboleda graduated as Internist in 2002 at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in the city of Bogotá; Finished his specialization in Pneumology in 2004 in the same university. From 2006 to 2007 he completed a fellowship in Pulmonary Transplantation and Interventional Pulmonology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
His main areas of interest are in Interventional Pulmonology, Oncology Pneumology. He is a member of the American Thoracic Association (ATS), Latin American Thoracic Association (ALAT) and the Colombian Association of Pulmonary Nephrology and Thoracic Surgery. He has more than 40 contributions in scientific contributions between articles, original research, participation in national and international congresses and edition of books and chapters in books.

Since 2014 our transdisciplinary research group (Genetics, Pneumology, Pathology and Clinical Oncology) has been working on research projects related to epigenetics and its relation to lung cancer. Specifically analyzing the mechanisms of transcriptional regulation of the genes Runx2 and Ror1, whose function has been related to tumor progression and whose mechanism of action is not completely clear.
